| Why HYDRO-SHIELD ®? |
 |
| A History of Performance and Safety |
HYDRO-SHIELD ®
is the first ever prop protecting unit designed to improve both
performance and boat handling.
The HYDRO-SHIELD ® Provides:
- Hydro-Foil action
- Reduces drag to allow planning with less power
- Operates like trim tabs to give level take off and slow down
- Reduces wake
- Lifts the boat on a higher plane, allows more weight since less boat is in the water you can operate in shallower water
- Improves steering with quicker action
- Controls cavitation and porpoising
- Allows tighter turns
- Improves steering of pontoon boats, inflatables and flat bottom boats
- Protects props and skeg guard
- Non-Corrosive Screws and Bracket
NOTE: NOT intended to act as a human protector.
HYDRO-SHIELD ® will also effectively help to protect the manatee and other environmentally sensitive surroundings during chance encounters.
HYDRO-SHIELD ®
works like a set of trim-tabs offering a level take-off and quicker
planing while controlling cavitation, porpoising and sliding in turns.
HYDRO-SHIELD ® will not only protect your prop during grounding and
beaching, and against underwater obstacles, but will also effectively
help to protect the manatee population during chance encounters. |
| Ken
Kroeber had long shared local concern about the fate of manatees in
Volusia County’s waterways, but after watching a sporting program on
television, which showed a ranger snapping a cumbersome guard over a
boat’s gear box, Kroeber figured he could improve on the concept. He
spent the next 1½ years perfecting his vision: a wing-shaped guard made
of heavy plastic that was easy to install and improved performance as
well as reducing manatee injuries. |
- Valerie Berton - The News Journal, October 28,1991
|
| “
The new HYDRO-SHIELD ® is a prop guard & Hydro-Foil fin that fits on
the bottom of an outboard’s skeg.” The unique aspect of this fin is
that it helps reduce prop injuries to manatees and helps a boat plane
faster at lower speeds improving top end performance. |
| Florida Sportsman, May 1992 |
| “
In Florida, manatee protection is an emotionally charged issue. Ken
Kroeber, of Edgewater Florida, has gone beyond emotion and is doing
something about it by inventing the HYDRO-SHIELD ®." It is a plastic fin
that prevents propellers from cutting Manatees. It doesn’t hamper an
engine’s performance, it adds lift, reduces drag, and enhances overall
performance. |
- P. Ruderman - Boating Magazine, February 1993
|
| “
I think I’ve hit everything possible fishing our bays and backwaters.
I’ve run over oyster bars, sand bars, grass flats, you name it. Despite
all this my stainless steel prop has never touched bottom. My
HYDRO-SHIELD ® has protected my prop from any damage.” |
- D.K. Smith - The Daily Journal, February 20, 1993 |
| “
In smooth water the HYDRO-SHIELD ® brought my 15-foot boat to a level
plane very quickly. I like the product because it also protected the
propeller in shallow water situations. Plus, installation of the
HYDRO-SHIELD ® was quick and easy. This is a product that nearly every
boat owner should consider installing.” |
- Ralph Skelton - Meridian, Mississippi North American Fisherman, March 1996
|
| “
An Edgewater, Florida man is doing his part to save the manatees while
helping boats maintain optimum performance.” Ken Kroeber got the idea
to design a boat propeller guard that not only improves fuel economy,
steering and speed, but also protects the manatees. |
- Linda Creesy - Staff Writer |
| "Edgewater
inventor, Ken Kroeber joins the quest to save the manatee. This
part-time fisherman and full-time engineer invented a bendable fin that
attaches to the foot beneath the propellers of almost any outboard
motor. This fin gives motor boats more stability and efficiency, and he
dreamed it up to protect the manatees." |
